Xiaolu received her B.S. and M.S. in Physics and completed her Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering at Sun Yat-sen University. Her doctoral research focused on the functional role of the cerebral cortex in regulating eye–hand coordination and on virtual reality rehabilitation techniques. During her Ph.D., she visited Paul Bays' lab, where she worked on neural population coding models of metacognitive sensitivity. She joined the lab as a postdoctoral researcher in 2025 and is currently investigating the neural mechanisms of information compression in sequential working memory using multimodal neuroimaging and neurocomputational models.
